Army Chief presides over BOA executive committee's meeting

Chief of Staff of Bangladesh Army General Waker Uz Zaman presided over a meeting of the executive committee of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) in the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment on Wednesday. General Waker Uz Zaman is President of Bangladesh Olympic Association. All executive committee members of Bangladesh Olympic Association attended the meeting.

One minute silence was observed to pay homage and seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the sports individuals, sports organizers and sports family members who passed away between 7 December 2024 to 22 April 2025.

General Waker Uz Zaman expressed gratefulness to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all sports federations, Bangladesh Army and all other concerned platforms for their cooperation in the implementation of different activities of Bangladesh Olympic Association.

General Waker Uz Zaman conveyed firm optimism about the construction of a proposed Olympic Complex in Mymensingh's Trishal upazila for the enhancement of sporting skills among youths and for expanding Bangladesh's fame in international sports tournaments. There are plans to start the activities of an indoor stadium initially over there in June 2025.

Decisions were reached in the meeting about Bangladesh's participation in 3rd Asian Youth Games, 6th Islamic Solidarity Games and 14th South Asian Games. Moreover, dignitaries present in the meeting decided to host 10th Bangladesh Games, according to a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Wednesday.
