BAEC officials denigrate concerned ministry's undue intervention

A broad number of officials and employees of all ranks and files belonging to Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) staged a peaceful demonstration from 22 to 24 April 2025 protesting undue intervention from the ministry concerned. They also urged the government to restore autonomy in BAEC.

As their demands were not fulfilled, the agitating BAEC officials will be abstaining from work for another two days from 27 April 2025 in all organizations under BAEC and mass signatures will be collected from 10 am to 12 pm, according to a press release received on Thursday.

The focal points highlighting the dissatisfied BAEC officials' major demands include restructuring BAEC with permanent appointments of chairman and members, establishing a research-friendly and respectable working atmosphere, empowering BAEC to authorize scientists to travel overseas for higher studies and trainings, eliminating discrepancies, introducing facilities like interest-free home loans etcetera.
