The work order of over 8-km long Banani-Matidali road inside Bogura town repairment works spending around tk. 29 crore and selection of contractor is yet to see the light due to the non-approval of the higher authority for long span of time and frustrates the people of Bogura.
Road division source said during the regime of BNP-led 4-party alliance (2001-2006), the extension of Banani-Matidali and Shatmatha-Tinmatha important roads was completed and the roads create huge change in the movement of the commuters.
Later, due to the enmity of the fascist awami league government, no repairment of the roads was done for long period of time and the roads are being damaged for water logging at Borogola, Thanthania and before Mohila college areas of the town, added the source.
District road division also added that last year, for putting bituminous layer in 8.670 km roads, the tender was called and September 18, 2024, tender letter was opened for finishing the repairment works by the current year but due to non-approval of the higher authority, the repairment works of the crucial road of Bogura town is yet to see the light though rainy season is coming soon.
Road division source further added that the bituminous working course was done by polymer bitumen not by normal bitumen as polymer bitumen was long lasting and rigid pavement cast will be done at Borogola and Thanthania areas of the road.
Bablu Hazi, a local of Borogola area said that he heard the news of repairment of the road and it should be done during dry season otherwise the longevity of the road will be questioned and hoped to be started very soon.
Contacted, Md. Abul Monsur Ahmed, Executive Engineer of Road division of Bogura said that after finishing tender calling activity for the repairment of the road, the proposal was sent for the approval of the higher authority of the concerned ministry and the panel of the contractor was also made and hopefully, the approval will be in hand soon so that they can start the repairment.
