Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) is the country's only specialized public university in the aeronautical sector. Under the guidance of Chief of Staff of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and all out supervision of Vice Chancellor of the university Air Vice Marshal A K M Manirul Bahar this university, for the first time, participated in the Design-Build-Fly (DBF) competition organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) from 10 to 13 April 2025 in Arizona, USA, and secured 18th place in the Design Report and 36th place as a whole, which has brought international recognition to the university as well as added honour to Bangladesh.
A grand reception and a press briefing were organized at AAUB campus in Dhaka on 06 May 2025 (Tuesday) for the successful students. BAF senior officers and higher functionaries of Education Ministry were also present at the events.
AAUB has secured some other achievements like the successful launch of Cube Satellite Balloon, 2nd runner-up position in Kibo Robot programming and qualifying for CanSat final round competition. Moreover, these UAVs have been designed to carry internal and external payloads and launch an engine-less glider from the sky which is capable of landing accurately at defined GPS coordinates, according to a press release received yesterday from Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
