A Chattogram court has ordered authorities concerned to show ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das arrested in connection with another four criminal cases. Chattogram's Senior Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin Mahmud handed down this order on Tuesday after a hearing was held.
Assistant Public Prosecutor in Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court Md. Rayhanul Wazed Chowdhury told journalists yesterday that Chinmoy Krishna Das was shown arrested over three cases lodged by police personnel in November 2024 and another case filed by murdered lawyer Saiful Islam Alif's brother following a petition submitted to court by investigating officers. The above court granted the shown arrest plea after a hearing of the case was carried out.
Assistant PP Md. Rayhanul Wazed Chowdhury stated that Chinmoy Krishna Das was virtually connected with the court on Tuesday from jail considering security issues. People belonging to the Sanatan community demonstrated around a prison van on the court premises in Chattogram on 26 November 2024 when a court declined Chinmoy Krishna's bail petition and instructed cops to send Chinmoy Krishna Das to jail.
Chinmoy Krishna's agitated supporters vandalized several transports and motorcycles which were parked on the road. Within a few minutes violent clashes broke out between lawyers and Chinmoy Krishna Das's followers which led to the murder of advocate Saiful Islam Alif.
