Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Thursday enforced a ban on all types of rallies and processions in some new areas in the capital inclding in front of the house of the Chief Justice.
A DMP statement said the new areas that came under the ban in front of the Chief Justice Bhaban, Judges Complex, Bangladesh Supreme Court's main and Majar and Jame Mosque gates, the entrance of the International Crimes Tribunal and the Judicial Administration Training Institute building.
It said the ban would come into effect from today and continue until further notice. DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali signed the public notice saying the restriction was imposed under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, 1976, in view of the recently emerged situation and maintaining law and order.
