A Dhaka court has ordered to seize 24.80 bighas of land, five plots and five apartments belonging to Tarique Ahmed Siddique, former military adviser to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, his wife Shaheen Siddique and their daughter Nurin Siddique.
The order was issued on Tuesday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Ghalib, following a petition by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Md. Monirul Islam.
According to ACC, the trio is under investigation for allegedly amassing wealth beyond known sources of income. The seized assets include a seven-story house in Dhaka's Baridhara DOHS, three apartments on floors 5-7 of another building in the same area, two additional flats with 3,600 sq ft each and four car parking spaces, four plots (20 kathas total) in Eastern New Township project and a plot in Bashundhara Residential Area.
ACC spokesperson Akterul Islam confirmed that the land is located at Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district and Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur district.
The court granted the seizure request after ACC investigators reported attempts by the accused to transfer or dispose of the properties, which could obstruct the ongoing inquiry.
