Bangladesh Academy of Science, the apex organization of eminent scientists and technologists, has elected Professor Dr. A. B. M. Badruzzaman, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, as Fellow in its 16th Council Meeting on 18 May 2025.
This prestigious award recognizes his significant contribution to engineering and scientific merit in Bangladesh and abroad. Dr. Badruzzaman, a Distinguished Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, obtained his PhD degree from the University of Virginia, USA, in 1992. His research subject was Environmental Engineering. His research interests are on arsenic contamination, solid waste management, surface and ground water quality modeling, environmental management systems, heavy metal speciation and transportation, etc.
For his special contribution to arsenic contamination of groundwater and prevention models, he received the Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Award in 2012. In 2019, he received the ITEX Gold Medal awarded by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society.
