Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB) and Barguna Nari Jagaron Karmosuchi (Jago Nari) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the "Coastal Harmony: Resilient Ecosystem, Thriving Communities (CHRETC)" project-an ambitious initiative aimed at enhancing climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in Bangladesh's vulnerable coastal regions.
Focusing on the Barguna and Patuakhali districts, the CHRETC project promotes community-led conservation, women's leadership in climate action, and inclusive, ecosystem-based livelihood opportunities. The project will implement strategies including mangrove restoration, sustainable ecosystem management, and livelihood diversification through women-led cooperatives.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Bartin Gomes, Managing Director of Good Neighbors Bangladesh, and Ms. Hosne Ara Hasi, Chief Executive of JagoNari, during a ceremony attended by senior representatives from both organizations.
"This partnership with JagoNari is a testament to our shared commitment to creating lasting positive change," said Mr. Gomes. "'Coastal Harmony' is not just about environmental protection-it's about building a future where coastal communities, especially women and children, can thrive despite the challenges of climate change."
Ms. Hosne Ara Hasi highlighted the significance of the collaboration:
"This MoU marks a milestone for the people of Barguna and Patuakhali. Partnering with a respected international organization like GNB will amplify our efforts to empower women as climate leaders and ensure sustainable livelihoods. Together, we will restore ecological balance and build resilient communities from the ground up."
Among the attendees from JagoNari were Ms. RoksanaPerveen (Advisor), Md. Duke Ivn Amin (Director of Communication & Resource Mobilization), and Ms. ArtheeProkrity (PR Officer). The leadership and staff of Good Neighbors Bangladesh were also present, reinforcing the strong institutional support behind this joint initiative.
This strategic partnership underscores the growing importance of collaboration between national NGOs in advancing Bangladesh's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-particularly in areas of climate action, gender equality, and community empowerment.
