ACC seeks Tk 1 lakh for tea: Hasnat Abdullah

One of the top leaders of National Citizens Party (NCP) Hasnat Abdullah has complained that an official of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sought BDT 1 lakh from NCP joint chief coordinator Dr. Mahmuda Mitu for taking tea.

Hasnat Abdullah narrated this allegation on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday. He attached three video clips to this Facebook post. Hasnat Abdullah said the corrupt officials of ACC must be subjected to stern actions. The martyrs of the glorious July Revolution did not sacrifice their lives for paying bribes to ACC officials, Hasnat Abdullah stated. Hasnat Abdullah wrote on Facebook that two ACC officials introducing themselves as Deputy Directors and DG asked Dr. Mahmuda Mitu for BDT 1 lakh for taking tea. Hasnat Abdullah added that it is often said by people BDT 1 lakh is the latest rate for bribes sought by ACC.

Dr. Mahmuda Mitu joined Red Crescent after 5 August 2024. Hasnat Abdullah slammed ACC saying that ACC officials are not citing names of Awami League leaders. Rather ACC is harassing ordinary people for bribes, Hasnat Abdullah complained.

Hasnat Abdullah mentioned that Awami League has been overthrown but the character of ACC could not be yet rectified.
