Shaheed Chandu Stadium was built in Bogura city in 1962. Since 1970, various local tournaments including football and cricket were played there. However, in 2003, the foundation stone of the stadium's sports complex was laid for the first time by the then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. A year later, the stadium began operations ahead of the Under-19 World Cup match.
On 7 February 2004, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia officially inaugurated Shaheed Chandu Stadium.
On 15, 18, 19 February 2004, three matches of ICC Youth World Cup Cricket were held at Shaheed Chandu Stadium. The participating teams were Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Canada.
Then in March, a 4-day and a 1-day cricket match was held between the visiting Zimbabwe A cricket team and Bangladesh A cricket team.
In the 2004-05 cricket seasons, the National Cricket League was held at the Chandu Stadium in, organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board of Control.
On 17 and 18 November 2005, the England Under-19 team played two one-day matches against the BCCI High Performance Team.
In the 2005-06 season, several matches of the Corporate Cricket League, National Cricket League and Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) were held at this stadium, under the auspices of the BCB.
On 30 January 2006, Chandu Stadium was declared an international cricket venue by the ICC.
The Sri Lanka national cricket team played 2 One Day International cricket matches and 1 Test match against the Bangladesh national cricket team here on 19 and 20 February and 6-10 March 2006. In the one-day cricket match on 20 February, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka.
On 17 March 2006, Bangladesh defeated Kenya at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium.
On 24 February 2006, Bangladesh Academy defeated the visiting United Arab Emirates cricket team here.
A 4-day and a 1-day cricket match were played between Bangladesh A and Sri Lanka A at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium on 29 March-1 April 2006.
On 3 and 5 December 2006, Bangladesh national cricket team and Zimbabwe national cricket team played one-day matches at this ground. Bangladesh won both matches.
Bangladesh A cricket team played a 4-day match on 1-4 March 2007 and a 1-day match on 7 March 2007, against England A cricket team.
CAB XI played a 2-day match on 12-13 April 2007 and two 1-day matches on 15 and 16 April 2007 against Rajshahi Division North Under-14 cricket team.
However, since then international cricket came to a halt at this venue and it has only hosted
domestic cricket matches.
