Food Secretary Md. Mahmudul Hasan has said that scientists and researchers need to work on a broader scale on identifying limitations in the food sector and to find out remedies at the same time, according to a press release received on Sunday.
Md. Mahmudul Hasan made the above comment while addressing a cheque distribution program in the capital on Sunday as the chief guest. Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) organized the event. BFSA Chairman Zakaria (Additional Secretary) presided over the seminar. Additional Secretary Shah Abdul Alim, BFSA Member (Public Health and Nutrition) Dr. Mohammad Mostafa, BFSA Member Professor Dr. Mohammad Shoeb and Professor Dr. Shakila Nargis Khan of Microbiology Department, Dhaka University spoke at the program as guests of honour.
The speakers at the program emphasized that food safety is one of the most vital prerequisites for national development. The discussants remarked that there is insufficient research work on food safety in Bangladesh. The dignitaries called upon food safety experts and academic scholars to come up with all the more research avocations on this turf, the press release concludes.
