Case filed against former Netrakona-4 MP Sajjadul

A case was filed against Sajjadul Hasan, former lawmaker from Netrakona-4, and Kamal Pasha Chowdhury, general secretary of Bangladesh Charu Shilpi Sangsad, over an attack and vandalism at BNP office a year ago.

Mojlu Miah, president of ward no.- 04 of Sadar union BNP, filed the case with Khaliajuri police station on Wednesday.  According the case statement, on July 16, 2024, during the first meeting of the Khaliajuri Upazila BNP convening committee at the party office, a group of poeple armed with  weapons, threatened and vandalized the office, disrupting the meeting. In addition, they blocked the road and vandalized and set fire to 15 motorcycles and three easy bikes. 

Mojlu said, "The party decided to file a case. So I became the plaintiff in the case."

When Khaliajuri Upazila BNP President Abdur Rouf Swadhin was asked about the mater, he said, "I do not have any knowledge over it."
Though several attempts were made to contact with Mahbubur Rahman, general secretary of upazila BNP, on his mobile phone, he did not pick up the call.

Journalist Shafiqul Islam, an accused in the case, said, "I am being harassed. In fact, I was not present at the incident." Khaliajuri Press Club convener Md. Habibullah said, "Shafiqul Islam and Mrinal Deb are professional journalists. Accusing them in such crimes is against independent journalism. 

I strongly condemn the matter."
Mugbul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Khaliajuri police station, said, "Three accused have been arrested in the case. Operations are underway to arrest other accused. Some accused are in jail."
