Regular joint force operations must continue till polls: Nur

Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur on Sunday stressed the need for conducting regular joint force operations until the upcoming national elections, saying such drives, if conducted based on specific evidence, would help further improve the country's law and order situation.

"Regular joint force operations have become indispensable to get rid of criminal activities. If properly carried out, these drives will provide relief to the public," he said. He made the remarks while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the VIP Lounge of Chattogram Press Club. Nur alleged that a conspiracy by both domestic and foreign groups is behind the recent attacks and vandalism in factories, incidents of which are reportedly on the rise. The Gono Odhikar Parishad leader further said that if elections are held under a proportional representation (PR) system, it would be impossible to predict the identity of elected MPs in advance, reports BSS.
