Harun Al Rashid escaped to Canada for political asylum

 
Former Bangladesh Ambassador to Morocco Mohammad Harun Al Rashid moved away to Canada without seeking directives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh in order to seek political asylum from the Canadian government. Reportedly Mohammad Harun Al Rashid is running a smear campaign against the Bangladesh interim government sitting in Canada.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) ordered Mohammad Harun Al Rashid to return to Bangladesh on 11 December 2024 but Mohammad Harun Al Rashid did not care about the instruction from MOFA and flew to Canada. He blamed Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus for misleading Bangladesh to anarchy through a Facebook post very recently.  

Mohammad Harun Al Rashid stated on Facebook that Dr. Muhammad Yunus unseated former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina illegally on 5 August 2024. MOFA has already asked the authorities concerned to abrogate the passports belonging to Mohammad Harun Al Rashid and his family members. MOFA has informed that such actions have been taken because Mohammad Harun Al Rashid is propagating fabricating stories to defame Dr. Muhammad Yunus and his cabinet colleagues.  

MOFA officials have told journalists that Mohammad Harun Al Rashid has termed himself as a tormented diplomat and an exiled author on his Facebook page which is false. MOFA has meanwhile stated that anyone from the Foreign Ministry showing compassion to Mohammad Harun Al Rashid will be subjected to stern disciplinary measures.

Reliable sources have informed that MOFA lacks accountability during all ruling periods. There were widespread nepotism and anomalies in MOFA during 2009 to 2024 and the same dark and controversial exercises are still going on in Foreign Ministry, diplomatic sources have told reporters.
