The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday invited applications from private local organisations for registration as election observers. Applications must be submitted in the prescribed form by 5:00pm on August 10, a notification of the EC Secretariat said.
The applications were invited as per the Election Observation Policy 2025. The notice stated that registered organisations will be authorised to observe parliamentary and local government elections for a five-year term, BSS reports.
The form is available at the EC's public relations office (Room 105) of the Nirbachon Bhaban and on its official website (www.ecs.gov.bd).
The intending election observer organizations must have registration under any law of Bangladesh and work for democracy, good governance and human rights.
The organisations should be committed to work for building awareness among citizens on free and fair elections. No organization with its CEO or any official having involvement with any political party will not be considered eligible for registration.
No organization under the leadership of any person interested in running in the coming elections will not be considered fit for registration, it said. In this regard, a written affidavit must be submitted with the application.
