AB Bank flooded with BDT 1758 crore losses
 
AB Bank PLC has already come under the hammer of huge monetary losses from January to June period of 2025. The amount of losses that inflicted AB Bank PLC during this time span amounts to BDT 1 thousand 758 crore, the bank's financial report has unveiled.

 AB Bank PLC Board of Directors nodded to the financial statement of the bank on Thursday which unfolded these losses that have put the private bank in deep monetary doldrums.

 AB Bank PLC Board of Directors did not recommend any dividends for its investors at the end of 2024 due to the bank's ailing financial status. However, AB Bank PLC has called for a meeting with stakeholders and major investors which is scheduled to be held on 5 August 2025.  

 AB Bank was enlisted with Bangladesh stock markets in 1983. The bank's authorized capital stands at BDT 1500 crore while its paid up capital is a little more than BDT 895 crore 69 lakh.  On the other hand, the exposure of the massive sums of losses in AB Bank PLC has triggered 

trepidation among depositors and entrepreneurs whose hard-earned money is engaged with this bank. It may be added that Bangladesh's banking system and financial sector were grossly polluted with corruption, nepotism, political interferences, money laundering, loan scams and anarchy from 2009 to 2024. Several reports on graft and anomalies in AB Bank also hit news headlines during last 15 years.
