The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Authority on Sunday marked another milestone in Bangladesh's infrastructure development with the inauguration of an 18-kilometer section of the Dhaka Bypass Expressway connecting the Dhaka-Tangail and Dhaka-Mymensingh highways.
The newly opened section inaugurated in Gazipur on Sunday by Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Faozul Kabir Khan will significantly reduce travel time between key regions and enhance the flow of goods and passengers across the country.
Implemented under Bangladesh's PPP model the Dhaka Bypass Expressway exemplifies how collaboration between government and private investors can deliver world-class infrastructure solutions. The project demonstrates the Government's commitment to modernizing transportation networks and unlocking new economic opportunities through private sector participation. PPP Authority Director General A K M Abul Kalam Azad who attended the inauguration emphasized the importance of PPP in driving Bangladesh's growth. "The Dhaka Bypass is a testament to the success of our PPP framework. By bringing together innovation financing and expertise from both public and private sectors we are creating sustainable infrastructure that benefits citizens and supports long-term development," he said.
The Dhaka Bypass Expressway once fully completed will serve as a strategic corridor easing traffic congestion around Dhaka city improving logistics efficiency and strengthening connectivity to industrial and trade hubs.
This project reaffirms the PPP Authority's vision to make Bangladesh a leading investment destination for infrastructure partnerships in South Asia ensuring faster safer and more efficient transport for all.
