On the occasion of Durga Puja celebrations in Dinajpur, a discussion meeting on security of places of worship, maintenance of law and order and relevant issues was held at the Deputy Commissioner's Office conference room on Tuesday. Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Rafiqul Islam presided over the meeting. 

A total of 1260 puja mandaps will be erected for the Sharadiya Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, in all the 13 upazilas of Dinajpur district this year. Speaking the occasion, the DC said, "We are determined to celebrate the religious festival amid enthusiasm and communal harmony. We have adopted tight security measures to make the durga puja celebration festive and successful."

"It is requested to refrain from playing microphones during the call to prayer and late at night and to only play religious songs on the microphone. All levels of law administration will provide full cooperation to the volunteers to perform their duties properly", the DC said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abdul Halim, Ansar-VDP District Commandant Md. Nuruzzaman, Dinajpur BWDB Sub-Divisional Engineer Md. Siddiqur Zaman, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Anisur Rahman, Additional District Magistrate Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui, District Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Md. Mashiur Rahman, District Jamaat Ameer Anisur Rahman, Dinajpur Ramakrishna Ashram and Mission President Ajay Kumar Chatterjee, Imam Maulana Matiur Rahman Qasemi, Dinajpur Press Club General Secretary Golam Nabi Dulal, Sadar Upazila BNP President Md. Abu Bakkar Siddique, Municipal BNP General Secretary Md. Mohiuddin Bakul, Raj Debottar Estate Agent Ronojit Kumar Singha, Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front District Unit Convener Uttam Kumar Roy, and leaders of Durga Puja committees in each upazila attended the meeting.

To mention, a number of massive pandals are being set up for puja celebrations in the district. Idol artists are engaged in giving the final shape to idols of Goddess Durga and demon king Mahishasur round the clock in the district.
