CPB inaugurates 13th congress extending support to Palestine
 A cultural soiree was rendered during a large rally of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) in the capital on Friday.     -AA

The 13th congress of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) was inaugurated on Friday (19 September 2025) in the capital's Engineers' Institution. CPB President Shah Alam raised the national flag at the ceremony while CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince hoisted the party flag.

CPB leaders and activists from different districts joined the congress. A cultural program was also rendered. A condolence motion was accepted at the beginning of the event mourning the deaths of the martyrs of the July Uprising. The event was moderated by CPB Assistant General Secretary Mihir Ghosh.

Former CPB presidents Manzurul Ahsan Khan and Mujahidul Islam Selim attended the congress too as guests of honour. Leaders of communist parties from different foreign countries sent felicitations on account of CPB congress like Communist Party of India, Japanese Communist Party, Australian Communist Party, Kurdistan Communist Party, South African Communist Party, New Communist Party of Netherlands, Pakistan Communist Party, Communist Party of China, Sri Lankan Communist Party, British Communist Party, Greek Communist Party and Brazilian Communist Party.

Speakers at the CPB congress extended support for the independence struggle of the people of Palestine.

CPB leaders reiterated their determination to continue combating against imperialism and the repressive capitalistic world order. The dignitaries said that all out political situation across Bangladesh is very alarming. They underscored free and fair elections as the only way out to recover from these perilous things. The CPB leaders laid emphasis on upholding and protecting the spirit and values of the glorious Liberation War of 1971.

CPB leaders called upon everyone to stay alert about some foreign countries' gambits to turn Bangladesh into a dysfunctional country. Veteran CPB functionaries urged the interim government to organize polls soon and to hand over power to an elected government to restore normal and well-ordered circumstances. At the same time CPB leaders voiced concern over the rise of far right extremists.  

The CPB congress will go on till 22 September 2025. A new central committee for next four years will be elected on the closing day of the congress.
