The Jagannath University (JnU) unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has announced a month-long program demanding special stipends for students, setting an ultimatum for implementation within October. The program will begin today with a healthcare service campaign. At a press conference held on Monday at the university's Kathal Tala, leaders of the JnU Chhatra Dal announced the program.
JnU Chhatra Dal Member Secretary Shamsul Arefin said, "The housing allowance, which is the lifeline demand of JnU students, is non-negotiable. Many students have suggested that housing allowance should be introduced before the JnUCSU election. We agree with the roadmap given by the administration, but many issues in it remain unclear. The current administration has failed to hold fascists accountable. While other universities have taken action against them, our administration's role remains questionable."
JnU Chhatra Dal Convener Mehedi Hasan Himel said, "We have struggled and protested in unity. Tomorrow the program will begin with a medical camp. According to the month-long timeline we have set, we will carry out a series of programs. We will make our position clear to the students. More programs will follow in the coming days."
He further said, "We thank the administration for declaring the JnUCSU guidelines. We hope that the upcoming JnUCSU election will be held in a fair and proper manner." The press conference was also attended by JnU Chhatra Dal Joint Conveners Jafar Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman Rumi, Suman Sardar, along with leaders and activists from different levels.
