Overlapping issues complicate recruiting new physicians

A great deal of confusing riddles have glared up in the health sector over the recruitment procedure of new physicians for upazilas across Bangladesh. Serious shortage of doctors in the countryside areas has hit hard people in urgent need for healthcare services in rural and remote regions.

Reportedly right now the posts of 12, 980 physicians are vacant all over Bangladesh. A puzzling situation has emerged over the 48th Special BCS due to the tug of war between vacancies and finding qualified doctors for small townships.

Doctors' associations have urged the Health Ministry to recruit at least 2 thousand new physicians immediately through the 48th Special BCS exams. Health officials have informed that around 2500 new doctors are going to be recruited from the candidates who passed in 44th, 45th and 46th BCS exams too.

Relevant sources have stated that appointment of 4 thousand new physicians will be a tough task due to overlapping issues. At the same time most of the physicians in Bangladesh are too unwilling to work in villages or small towns for commercial reasons. This absurd phenomenon is widely known to everyone in Bangladesh including government high-ups.
