Does US want Jamaat to win ruling power?

Jamaat-E-Islami has been a hot topic in Bangladesh during last one year. Different surveys and indexes show that Jamaat's popularity is rising day by day. Curiosity about Jamaat has become strong particularly after Jamaat's student front Islam Chhatra Shibir gained landslide victories in student union elections in Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University very recently.

Indian media outlet Ei Shomoy has unveiled a report on Jamaat-E-Islam's prevailing rise in the political arena across Bangladesh. Ei Shomoy has analyzed different aspects about Jamaat's political prospects, strength and the likelihood of Jamaat building up an Islamic political alliance in Bangladesh.

An American diplomat who worked in Bangladesh for several years focused on a few factors which are working as catalysts behind driving Jamaat forward in current days. However, the diplomat's name and particulars were not exposed by Ei Shomoy.

Ei Shomoy has reported that Jamaat-E-Islami's top leaders are highly educated and they are commercially successful. Secondly, Jamaat leaders have very good manners and they interact with people very politely.

Jamaat leaders have also acquired public sympathy because of being tormented and deprived at the hands of ruling parties in Bangladesh since independence over the 1971 issue. Jamaat also believes in democratic principles. Jamaat is a rigorous Islamic party but Jamaat leaders are not backdated like the Taliban in Afghanistan. Jamaat can be called a progressive Islamic party, Ei Shomoy suggests.

Reportedly the United States of America wants Jamaat to win power in Bangladesh. Diplomatic sources have informed that the US politicians have been waiting for Jamaat to come to ruling power in Bangladesh for last few decades.

Some US diplomats have said on condition of anonymity that Bangladesh's population consists of more than 85% Muslims. Keeping this in view, it would be nothing unnatural if Jamaat wins the upcoming elections and constitutes a government in Bangladesh, political analysts have commented.
