Former Industries Minister and Member of Parliament from Narsingdi 4 Advocate Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was laid to rest on Tuesday following a second funeral prayer in his ancestral village in Narshingdi.
The second funeral prayer was held at 11?am on the grounds of Shukur Mahmud High School in Manohardi Upazila, attended by a large gathering of local residents, political associates, and family members.
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was later buried at his ancestral graveyard in Brahmanhata village. His first funeral prayer was held at Azad Mosque in the capital on Monday. This senior Awami League leader was arrested in September last year following July Uprising and had been held in Dhaka Central Jail.
Recently he became sick while in custody and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he passed away while undergoing treatment.
During his political career, Humayun was elected five times as MP from Narsingdi 4 and served as the Minister of Industries during the last two terms of the Awami League-led government.
His long parliamentary tenure and ministerial leadership were marked by his involvement in industrial development and local constituency affairs.
