Allegations of massive irregularities and nepotism

Dealers of Dhaka city have staged a demonstration against OMS (Open Market Sale) dealers' recruitment for Dhaka North and South City corporations. The demonstration was held in front of dealers' at Jurain on Sunday. At that time, excluded dealers demanded the cancellation of recently OMS dealers' recruitment. 

They further said that a lottery was held over the matter at the Engineers Institution in the capital's Ramna on 29 September 2025 at 9am. But only a few selected dealers were called by sending SMS to their mobile phones without giving a written notice.

They however raised questions as to why not all dealers received the SMS and why they were only called through mobile message instead of issuing a notice?

Why there was no publicity in newspapers or circulars. Deprived dealers again alleged that many applicants did not appear in the lottery due to not getting any message. On the other hand only those dealers who have close relations with officials concerned have received the invitation as well as participated in the lottery and most of them won the race. ''we are strongly demanding the cancellation of 29 September lottery,'' they added.
