Bulbul elected BCB President without contest

 
The elections of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) were held on Monday (6 October 2025). It all happened like a replica of presumptions without anything remarkable. Aminul Islam Bulbul has been elected once again for the President post of BCB.

There were no competitors to oppose Aminul Islam Bulbul in the elections, which is why questions have glared up about the decorum of these polls. Aminul Islam Bulbul was elected for the first time in the BCB President post during 2012. Afterwards he was elected another three times without contests.

Faruk Ahmed and Shakhawat Hossain were elected yesterday for Vice President posts without contests as well. Faruk Ahmed lost the BCB President post through a lot of theatrics around four months ago. In the following weeks, Adviser for Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan talked about some allegations on Faruk Ahmed. Faruk Ahmed also pelted allegations about Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and thus a blame game went on for some days.

Newly elected Vice President Shakhawat Hossain is almost an unknown face in Bangladesh cricket. Shakhawat Hossain's professional background shows that he held senior executive positions in a few star-rated hotels like Westin and Unique Hotels and Resorts. Sports organizers have expressed wonder over the fact that how an individual with no sports background can be selected for a high post like BCB Vice President.

Allegations have already surfaced that the Adviser for Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan heavily influenced the BCB elections. Celebrated cricketer Tamim Iqbal called off his nomination papers hinting at election fixing recently.

Nine people have become Directors of BCB without contest which became confirmed even before the elections took place. People belonging to sports turfs had very little curiosity about yesterday's elections because it was widely known to everyone who is going to win which post. BCB Board of Directors has four years validity. The new Board of Directors will form different committees soon.

Veteran sports enthusiasts have over and over again expressed their astonishment and dissatisfaction over the selection of inexperienced, unskilled and unsportsmanlike guys in sports platforms. Some of the newly elected BCB officials are branded loan defaulters who were closely loyal to the overthrown regime, reliable sources have stated.

Even some elected BCB officials visited foreign countries with the ousted Prime Minister during the previous regime. People with obscure, unfit and controversial backgrounds will turn out to be useless and harmful for sports, according to eminent sports personalities.
