Qatar Charity launches ‘Vision Initiative 2025’ to bring light back into the eyes of underprivileged

Qatar Charity Bangladesh Office has launched a month-long humanitarian program titled “Vision Initiative 2025” on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, at the Lions Eye Institute and Hospital, Lions Bhaban, Agargaon, Dhaka.

Through this month-long initiative, Qatar Charity will organize Eye-Camps in different regions of Rangpur, Khulna, and Dhaka divisions, where around 2,000 poor and underprivileged patients will receive free eye check-ups, cataract surgeries, and other eye treatment services.

The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Daud Mia, ndc, Director General (Additional Secretary), NGO Affairs Bureau, Chief Advisor’s Office. In his remarks, he said, “Delivering eye care services to the underprivileged communities in remote areas is a highly commendable humanitarian effort. Alongside government initiatives, such programs by non-governmental organizations play a crucial role in ensuring sustainable eye healthcare services across the country.” He appreciated Qatar Charity’s initiative and expressed gratitude for its continued efforts toward improving the lives of Bangladesh’s disadvantaged communities.

The event was chaired by Mr. Zakarya Ali Al Motair, Country Director, Qatar Charity Bangladesh Office. He stated that Qatar Charity has been working in Bangladesh for nearly 30 years, supporting people through projects in health, education, housing, water, and social welfare. “Through this initiative, Qatar Charity aims to provide free eye check-ups, cataract surgeries, and vision care for thousands of people in need across Bangladesh.” he said. He also mentioned “The Vision Initiative 2025 continues this mission by focusing on eye health, a small surgery that can completely change a person’s life.”. He further reaffirmed Qatar Charity’s commitment to continuing such humanitarian activities in the future.

Among others, the event was attended by Mr. Mushin Siddiquey, Country Director, Muslim Aid; Mr. K. A. M. Morshed, Senior Director, BRAC; and Mr. Md. Golam Kibria, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health.

‘Vision Initiative 2025’ is a significant humanitarian program of Qatar Charity that will make a notable contribution to improving the living standards of the underprivileged people of Bangladesh. Officials from the Lions Eye Institute and Hospital, representatives from Qatar Charity, doctors, medical staff, and members of the media were also present at the event.
