Meeting held between National Consensus Commission, July fighters

The National Consensus Commission on Monday held a meeting with the July fighters at the LD Hall of the National Parliament.

Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Mia, and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider, among others, were present, according to a press release.

During the meeting, the July fighters informed the commission that many of them, despite having health cards, have been denied access to essential medical services at various hospitals since last Eid-ul-Azha.

They demanded that the Health Adviser issue a written instruction to all hospitals in the country to ensure treatment for the injured July fighters.

They also stressed the need to take necessary measures to ensure the legal protection of the family members of July fighters and emphasized providing each July fighter with a specific identity card (ID card). At the meeting, the July fighters raised the issue of the October 17 incident, saying it was completely unexpected for them. They stated that they did not go to the South Plaza of the National Parliament to cause chaos or violence; rather, they were there to highlight their just demands.

However, they mentioned that some outsiders infiltrated the area and engaged in fights and vandalism.
