Police arrested a man with 100 kilograms of hemp from Shashidal Uttar area under Brahmanpara upazila in Cumilla on Monday.
The arrestee has been identified as Md. Kausar, 30, son of late Abdul Hakim of Uttar Shashidal village in the upazila. According to the police, a police team led Mohammad Sajedul Islam Palash, officer-in-charge (OC) of Brahmanpara police station, conducted an operation at Shashidal Uttar area. In the operation, 40 kg of hemp was recovered from a bamboo jar near a pond of Shashidal Uttar area and 60 kg from the roof of the house of local member Nurul Islam.
Police arrested Kausar first with hemp from a pond near Nurul Islam's house. Later, based on his confession, a search was conducted on the roof of the house and 100 kg of hemp was recovered while it was being kept for drying.
OC Mohammad Sajedul Islam Palash said, "A case has been filed at the police station under the Narcotics Control Act."
