The Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Cup Men's 2025 is set to commence on Wednesday at the ShaheedSuhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Dhaka.

The tournament will be officially inaugurated at 3:00 pm by Asif Mahmud SajibBhuiyan, the Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Among the distinguished guests will be the AVC Technical Delegate Maryam Hesabi, the CAVA VIS official Ismail Farhan, BVF President Faruque Hassan, General Secretary Bimal Ghosh Bhulu and Vice-President Masudul Alam, alongside other federation officials.

The international championship is featuring six nations in a battle for regional honours. Hosts Bangladesh will be joined by the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The home side, under the guidance of Japanese coach Ryan Masajedi, has set their sights on reaching the final and reclaiming a spot in the international rankings.

In the tournament opener Turkmenistan will take on Nepal at 10:00 am while Sri Lanka will meet Afghanistan at 01:00 pm and at 5:30 pm the hosts Bangladesh will take on Maldives at the same day.

Earlier, a press meet and logo unveiling ceremony took place on Monday at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of the Bangladesh Olympic Association in Dhaka, where coaches, players, and officials expressed optimism ahead of the continental showdown. The event, hosted by the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF), signaled a new chapter for the sport in the country.

Bangladesh, once ranked among the top 70 nations, have slipped off the global rankings due to their absence from inter-national competitions since 2023. The CAVA Cup, therefore, presents not only a shot at silverware but also an opportunity to climb back into the world pecking order.
