Former leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Faizul Karim has declared that he has joined Awami League (AL). Faizul Karim posted this announcement on Facebook by a video clip on Wednesday. Later on local Awami League leaders and activists in Kishoreganj proclaimed on social
media that Faizul Karim has joined Awami League.
Faizul Karim is a member of BNP Lawyers Forum in Kishoreganj. Faizul Karim's father Fazlul Karim was a former Member of Parliament (MP) and he was Health State Minister in BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's cabinet once upon a time.
Faizul Karim said on Facebook "Sheikh Hasina will certainly come back to Bangladesh. Joy Bangla. Joy Bangabandhu." Faizul Karim spoke on Facebook for 2 minutes 12 seconds on a live video clip.
Faizul Karim told journalists that Awami led the Liberation War of Bangladesh during 1971. He also underscored Awami League as a secular political party. Faizul Karim blamed the interim government for consuming the country's assets under cover of reforms. Faizul Karim also slammed the interim government saying that the Advisers are conspiring to place anti-independence quarters in power. Faizul Karim stated that he feels proud of joining Awami League.
However, Faizul Karim did not explain how and in what ways he joined Awami League.
Nevertheless, Kishoreganj District BNP General Secretary said "Faizul Karim does not have any post in BNP at present. BNP does not recognize Faizul Karim. His comments or Facebook posts carry no value for BNP. BNP doesn't care which party he joins".
