Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that some political parties are hatching ploys to baffle the upcoming elections. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made this comment while addressing a program in the capital's Engineers' Institution on Thursday afternoon.
A book titled "Mohakaler Mohanayak Zia" was unwrapped during the event. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir graced the program as the chief guest.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said "Now it is more than essential to have an elected government in Bangladesh. Only an elected government can resolve the setbacks and critical issues related to the current economic, political and educational terrains in the country."
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir appreciated the interim government's efforts in driving forward the reform initiatives to speed up and to rectify different state organs. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir assured that BNP would be working tirelessly to implement the party's 31 points to establish equal rights, good governance, accountability, socioeconomic justice and to eliminate corruption if BNP is elected to power.
The BNP Secretary General recalled that martyred President Ziaur Rahman introduced multi-partisan ruling system in Bangladesh through reforms of laws and state machineries. Mirza Fakhrul called upon everyone to discard the false content posted on Facebook and YouTube which aims to make BNP controversial.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam stated that attempts were made to obliterate Ziaur Rahman's name from Bangladesh's history. Even Ziaur Rahman's burial place came under conspiracy, Mirza Fakhrul further said. He added that it's not possible to deny Ziaur Rahman's contribution in Bangladesh's progress. Millions of patriotic people across Bangladesh still love Ziaur Rahman from the core of their hearts, Mirza Fakhrul commented.
