KMP holds traffic awareness rally to curb accidents, congestion

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) organized a colourful traffic awareness rally with the participation of motor vehicle drivers at Sonadanga Bus Terminal in Khulna on Thursday to prevent road accidents and ease traffic congestion.

The event was graced by Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Protocol) of KMP, Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, as the chief guest.

Following the rally, the Additional Police Commissioner said that easy-bike drivers are low-income earners whose families depend on their income.

"Each driver represents a family and the four or five passengers they carry also represent four or five families. Therefore, drivers must keep in mind that any accident caused by their carelessness or recklessness can bring harm to many families," he stated.

He added, "If we all develop the habit of following traffic rules, it will be possible to transform Khulna city into a safe and congestion-free metropolis."
To ensure safer roads and a safer city, KMP has launched this awareness campaign in two locations, with plans to expand it to eight more spots across the city over the next eight days.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among local residents while educating drivers, passengers and pedestrians about their responsibilities on the road.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Shafiqul Islam, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sairuddin Ahmed, Assistant Police Commissioner (Sonadanga Zone) Md. Humayun Kabir, Assistant Police Commissioner (Traffic) Khondoker Hossain Ahmed, along with police personnel, motor and CNG

drivers, labour union leaders and members of the public, were present at the rally.
