Youth arrested for rape attempt in Satkhira

Police have arrested a youth of attempting to rape a housewife in Tala upazila of Satkhira district. 

The arrestee has been identified as Miraj Gazi, 20, son of Afsar Gazi of Barat village under Tala upazila. 

The police arrested the accused on receipt of the complaint from the victim housewife with Tala police station on Friday (October 24) morning.
Earlier, the incident took place on Thursday (October 23) night in Barat village of the upazila. 

According to the case file, the victim housewife's husband was away from home due to work and she met her neighbor Miraj Gazi through social media. After that, the accused Miraj Gazi used to visit their house at different times and make inappropriate suggestions to her. In continuation of this, Miraj Gazi entered the housewife's in-laws' house on Thursday night and tried to rape her forcibly. At that time, her children and mother-in-law who were at home woke up hearing the screams of housewife. Later, local people arrived at the scene and detained Miraj. Later, they informed the local police. 

On information, a team from Tala police station went to the scene and arrested Miraj.

Md. Main Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tala police station, said, "The arrestee has been sent to jail through the court on Friday afternoon."
