Gono Odhikar Parishad President and former DUCSU vice president Nurul Haque Nur on Sunday said the July mass uprising was not the achievement of any single political party, as people from all political and social backgrounds contributed to it.
"The uprising was a collective effort. Instead of any single political party, the credit goes to the workers, peasants, and ordinary people who stood against fascism and sacrificed their lives for freedom," he said.
Nur was addressing a discussion marking the 4th founding anniversary of the Gono Odhikar Parishad at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the capital.
Nur said those who were part of the anti-fascist movement must now reach a common decision regarding the Jatiya Party. "Jatiya Party means Awami League. It was with their support that the Awami League established fascism in the country."
"Whenever they (Jatiya party) get a chance to join elections, they try to manipulate the process with Awami League's help to engage in various misdeeds to sabotage the election internationally," he added, reports BSS.
Referring to past communication with BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, Nur mentioned that since October 28, 2023, he had been in contact with Salahuddin on various issues and had received advice from him.
