Coast guard seizes 6 illegal artisanal trawling boats in Bhola

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) on Monday night seized 6 artisanal trolling boats during a joint drive from Shukkhali canal under Charfassion in Bhola. Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque, media officer at coast guard headquarters, confirmed the matter on Tuesday noon.

He said, "Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted ar Shuhkhali Canal under Charfassion police station by Coast Guard Outpost Charmanika and the Department of Fisheries from 5 pm on Monday, October 27, 2025 to 1 am on Tuesday. During the drive, a total of 6 illegal artisanal trawling boats were seized."

Later, in the presence of the fisheries officer, the trawling equipment was removed from the seized artisanal trawling boat and the seized illegal trawling boats were handed over to Dularhat Police Station for further legal action. "The Coast Guard will continue such operations in future to protect the fishery resources", he added.
