Dr Junaidur Rahman Likhon, assistant professor of surgery at Dhaka Medical College (DMC), has been elected social welfare secretary of Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB), a platform of pro-BNP physicians.
Ex-DMCian Dr Likhon got his position in the full-fledged 276-member cenral executive committee of the DAB with Prof Harun Al Rashid as president and Dr Md Zahirul Islam Shakil as secretary general.
A press release, signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Tuesday (October 28, 2025) said the party approved the new DAB committee and 57-member advisory council.
Coming from a respectable Muslim family at Deora village under Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria district, Dr Likhon said, "I'm humbled to be assigned with the new responsibility as the social welfare secretary of a large reputed professional organization. I try my best to serve the doctors' community as well as common people. I convey heartfelt gratitude to my well-wishers especially people from my home district Brahmanbaria who still congratulate on my achievement."
Ex-Notredamian Dr Junaidur Rahman Likhon, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), completed his MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College and pursued FCPS degree from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). He also did FMAS from India.
