Afzal Hossain hopes for Asaduzzaman Noor's release from prison

 
Legendary actor Asaduzzaman Noor's birthday passed a couple of days ago. A number of prominent actors, models, directors and producers have expressed best wishes and prayers for cultural luminary Asaduzzaman Noor on social media on account of his birthday.

Veteran television actor and director Afzal Hossain wrote about his working experience and close bonds with Asaduzzaman Noor on Facebook. Afzal Hossain profoundly admired Asaduzzaman Noor's superb acting skills and his mellifluent voice.

According to Afzal Hossain, Asaduzzaman Noor has a very soft and humble personality which cannot be deciphered without closely working with him. Asaduzzaman Noor's artistry and acting dexterity is incomparable. Afzal Hossain recalled that Asaduzzaman Noor put confidence on him when Afzal Hossain was new in the arena of making advertisements for multinational companies for television and print media. Afzal Hossain extended gratitude to Asaduzzaman Noor for this support.

Asaduzzaman Noor's cooperative, friendly and polite manners made him very intimate with Afzal Hossain. These golden memories will never fade out, Afzal Hossain stated.

During their acting careers Asaduzzaman Noor was associated with Nagorik Natto Shomproday while Afzal Hossain worked for Dhaka Theater. They both held one another in high esteem for decades. Afzal Hossain put forward his deep and wholehearted honour for Asaduzzaman Noor.

Addressing Asaduzzaman Noor's birthday, Afzal Hossain wrote on social media "Noor Bhai is alive but this kind of being alive is slightly better than being dead. I am hopeful that Noor Bhai will return to us and we will become even more intimate. Happy birthday to Asaduzzaman Noor."

It may be added that Asaduzzaman Noor was a highly popular television actor during 1980s and 1990s. He acted in a few movies too. Asaduzzaman Noor became an icon by playing the role of Baker Bhai on BTV in a drama serial authored by famed playwright Humayun Ahmed titled "Kothao Keu Nei".

Asaduzzaman Noor was also actively involved in politics with banned outfit Awami League and he was elected Member of Parliament (MP) five times from Nilphamari 2 constituency. He also held the Cultural Affairs Minister post from 2014 to 2018. Awami League was overthrown from power on 5 August 2024 and unseated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina flew to India on the same day. Asaduzzaman Noor was arrested on 15 September 2024 and since then he has been inside jail over allegations of criminal offences.
