BAU Correspondent: A 101-member executive committee for the 2025–26 session of Animal Saviors of Bangladesh, an animal welfare organization formed by teachers and students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), has been announced.
Professor Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam of the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Science, has been elected President, while Veterinary Science intern student Sandip Saha has been elected General Secretary.
The announcement was confirmed on Monday (November 3) by Md. Ashikuzzaman, the newly elected Media and Publication Secretary of the committee.
Other key office bearers include Professor Dr. Mahbubul Pratik Siddique of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene as Treasurer, intern student Al Faruk as Vice President, and Md. Ashikuzzaman as Media and Publication Secretary.
The committee also features eight foreign students among its 101 members. Additional positions include Abu Baset Shuzauddaulla Saikat as Organizing Secretary (Medical), Md. Zayedul Islam as Organizing Secretary (Rescue), Md. Anamul Haque as Office Secretary, Bijoy Kundu as Assistant Treasurer, Kaniz Fatema Binti as Drug Analysis and Liaison Secretary, Eureka Joshi as International Affairs Secretary, Hafsa Khatun as Information and Technology Secretary, and Adnan Rahman as Event Management Secretary. The committee also includes 50 general members.
Speaking on the occasion, newly elected President Professor Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam said, “It is truly admirable how our university students, alongside their studies, are working with such dedication and compassion to care for street and ownerless animals. I believe this organization will not only contribute to animal treatment and rescue activities but also serve as a living classroom for compassion, responsibility, and practical experience among students.”
