Titas Gas conducts drive to remove Illegal connections

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC continues its ongoing drives to identify and eliminate illegal gas usage. As part of its regular enforcement activities, on 9 November, 2025, a team led by Mr. Milton Roy, Senior Assistant Secretary and Executive Magistrate, Energy and Mineral Resources Division, conducted a raid under the jurisdiction of Metro Dhaka Marketing Division-1 of Titas Gas at Nasiruddin Road, Donia, Kadamtali, Dhaka; Madina Tank Goli; London Market; and Sanarpar, Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. 

During the operation, connections of Al Rabbi Washing and Bhai Bhai Washing Service were disconnected, and approximately 600 meters of illegal 2" MS (mild steel) distribution pipelines were dismantled. Additionally, 155 feet of MS pipes of various diameters, 200 feet of plastic pipes, and 2 gas boosters were removed and confiscated. For unauthorized gas use, a fine of BDT 100,000 (one lakh taka) was imposed and collected from Bhai Bhai Washing Service, said a press release. On the same day, another raid was conducted under the leadership of Mr. Rashed Khan, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Narayanganj, in collaboration with Titas Gas Regional Marketing Division - Rupganj (Zone Office - Araihazar) at Jhaugra (Dakshinpara), Nagerchar (Mukundi), and Krishnapura, Araihazar, Narayanganj.

In this operation, gas supply to 1,200 households with approximately 1,500 double burners was disconnected. A total of 3,100 feet of MS pipelines of various diameters were dismantled and seized. It is worth mentioning that in Nagerchar, Araihazar, several 2" diameter pipelines installed for operating an unauthorized lime factory were cut into pieces and confiscated.

In a separate drive, Regional Sales Division - Savar (Zone Office - Ashulia) of Titas Gas conducted raids at Gorat Pakar Matha and near Yusuf Market, Ashulia, Savar, Dhaka, to remove illegal distribution lines. Approximately 450 double-burner connections were disconnected, and 900 feet of MS pipes were removed and seized. This operation successfully prevented the theft of gas worth BDT 1,155,996 per month.

Furthermore, Regional Vigilance Division - Narayanganj of Titas Gas inspected the following industries under Zone Office - Fatulla:

AP Knit Cotton Dyeing (306000567), Roya Dyeing (306000381), Advance World Ltd. (306000588), Shahanur Traders (306000528), Kadam Rasul Dyeing & Printing (306000397), Azad Rifat Fibers Ltd. (306000538), Dhaka Textile Mills (306000197), Samson Winter Wear Ltd. (306000317), and Moon Fabrics Ltd. (306000254).

No significant irregularities were detected during these inspections.

It is noteworthy that from September 2024 to 1 November 2025, Titas Gas conducted extensive drives resulting in the disconnection of 74,025 illegal gas connections-including 396 industrial, 532 commercial, and 73,097 residential connections-along with 158,146 burners, and the removal of 310.7 kilometers of illegal pipelines.
