Govt to purchase 50 thousand  tons of rice from Singapore

The government will buy 50 thousand tons of non-basmati boiled rice from Singapore through an international open tender at a cost of Tk. 216 crore 90 lakh and 59 thousand. 

Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed confirmed it to journalists at the Secretariat yesterday after an advisory council committee meeting on government purchase. 

He said the meeting approved purchase of 50 thousand metric tons of non basmati boiled rice from Singapore through international tender method under package-5 for the fiscal year 2025-2026 following proposals of the Food Ministry.

This volume of rice will come from Adityo Birla Global Trading Private Limited Company in Singapore and the price for per metric ton will be fixed at 354.19 US dollar.
