Cluster development plan workshop held in Satkania
 
A day-long preparatory workshop on the Cluster Development Plan, organized by LGED, was held in Satkania Municipality, Chattogram. 

On Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at around 9 AM, the workshop took place in the conference hall of Satkania Municipality, presided over by the Municipal Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Khandaker Mahmoodul Hasan. 

The event was arranged under the Resilient Urban and Territorial Development Project (RUTDP).  The technical session was conducted by Technical Expert Md. Nurul Amin Talukder, while RUTDP Assistant Engineer of LGED, Md. Mosharraf Hossain, attended as the special guest. 

  Other speakers included Urban Planner Md. Saifur Rahman, Tamanna Salam, Architect Farhana Islam, Design Engineer Sanim Arefin, Environmental Specialist Md. Al Amin, Social Management Specialist Md. Zahidul Islam, and members of the Satkania Municipal Town Level Coordination Committee (TLCC). Speakers noted that RUTDP is a nationally funded development project of Bangladesh, jointly financed by the World Bank. The project will be implemented under LGED from July 2024 to June 2030, with a duration of six years. Upon completion, it will support climate-resilient modern urban infrastructure and services.  An estimated 17 million people living in 81 municipalities and 6 city corporations, along with 4.6 million residents of growth corridors, will directly benefit from the project interventions. 

Under the project, development initiatives will include construction and upgrading of roads and footpaths, streetlights, drainage systems, public toilets, market and bus terminal improvements, supermarkets, bridges and culverts, and municipal buildings-ensuring modern and climate-resilient urban services. The project prioritizes social and environmental considerations and ensures gender inclusion. 

In his presidential remarks, Administrator and UNO Khandaker Mahmoodul Hasan said, "Through this project, a modern and climate-resilient urban management system will be established in Satkania Municipality. Roads, drains, streetlights, and public amenities will see significant improvements. 

With local participation, Satkania will develop into a modern and green municipality." 

The workshop was attended by respected individuals from the nine wards of Satkania Municipality, political leaders, journalists, cultural personalities, officials from various government departments, civil society members, teachers, imams, and representatives from various NGOs.
