Ctg new DC Zahidul commits to establish people-friendly administration

Md Zahidul Islam Miah has officially joined Chattogram as new Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate and assumed his responsibilities on Tuesday morning. 

After taking charge, the new DC called for the cooperation of people from all walks of life to enhance administrative efficiency, strengthen professionalism within the district administration, and establish good governance in Chattogram.  He also sought collective support to ensure continued development activities and maintain law and order in the district.  Prior to this appointment, Md. Zahidul Islam Miah served as the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Rajbari and Narayanganj districts. It has been learnt that while serving in Narayanganj, he became a reliable address for everyone. He has stood by martyrs and injured families of student's anti-discrimination movement, visually impaired students, distressed people, helpless children, prisoners, and at-risk patients. Smartphones for the visually impaired Sohag, laptops for Salma Jerin, wheelchairs and electric chairs for 20 disabled people, educational materials for special school children, financial assistance for the treatment of helpless Azan, Nasima, Alvi, Sirajul, and Faisal, among many other patients-his human touch was everywhere.

He launched Green and Clean Narayanganj program and long-term initiatives to improve the quality of secondary education, the benefits of which then turned into a talk of the town among Narayangj residents.

Zahidul also played an important role in development by opening a neonatal ICU at the hospital, providing wheelchairs at Khanpur Hospital, installing a state-of-the-art CBC-ECG machine at Victoria Hospital, and providing balls, boots, and tournament expenses for children at the football academy.
