Six more people have died of dengue fever in Bangladesh, while 788 new patients have been admitted to hospitals with the disease in the past 24 hours.

The total number of hospitalisations from the Aedes mosquito-borne illness this year has reached 87,712, with 17,450 patients admitted in November alone. According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin on Wednesday, of the six dengue patients who died in the past 24 hours, three were admitted to hospitals in Rajshahi, two in Dhaka North City Corporation, and one in Dhaka South City Corporation. In the first 19 days of November, dengue has claimed 71 lives. Until now, 349 people have died from the fever this year.

October saw the highest monthly death toll, with 80 fatalities. Previously, 76 people died in September.

July logged 10,684 hospitalisations and 41 deaths, followed by August with 10,496 cases and 39 deaths.
