Nat'l Livestock Week inaugurated in Birganj

A week-long Livestock Week has been inaugurated in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur with a colourful rally, a livestock exhibition, a discussion and various other events.

To mark the occasion, a rally organized by the Upazila Administration, Upazila Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital at 11am yesterday from the Upazila Parishad premises, and ended at the Birganj Pilot Government High School ground after parading various important roads in the uapzial.  Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Shahriar Mannan presided over the program while Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanvir Ahmed delivered a speech as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said "The livestock sector is playing an important role in enriching the country's economy. The government has taken various initiatives to increase efficiency in modern technology, disease prevention systems and farm management. This exhibition will help farmers gain knowledge through hands-on experience" Birganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Gafur, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Ahsan Habib Sarkar, Upazila Fisheries Officer Fazl Ibne Kausar, Youth Development Officer Jamil Uddin Mondal, officials of various upazila departments, journalists from print and electronic media, among others, spoke as special guests.

After the discussion meeting, milk, eggs, meat, poultry, cattle and modern technology produced by local farmers were displayed at the exhibition. A crowd of people of all ages, including students, could be seen watching the day-long exhibition.
