Four Baul singers were reportedly injured in Thakurgaon on Wednesday after a clash broke out with an outraged group near District Court premises.
A prompt intervention by police brought the situation under control within minutes, preventing further escalation and ensuring peace in the area.
The injured; Mokles, Alamin Hossain, Babul Baul and Sanwar Hossain, were given immediate assistance and authorities say the situation is now fully under control. Police are working to identify those involved in the incident. Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Sarwar Alam Khan said law enforcement had already been deployed nearby to maintain peace during a gathering organised by Baul devotees. "The situation was quickly stabilised. If a formal complaint is lodged, necessary legal steps will be taken," he added. Local sources said Baul followers from different upazilas had begun assembling peacefully under the banner of 'Sampritir Oikya', ahead of a rally calling for the release of Baul singer Abul Sarkar Moharaj.
Eyewitnesses reported that a sudden altercation broke out when a group approached the Bauls.
Devotees took temporary shelter inside District Bar Association building until police restored order.
