Niamatullah Munim of Dainik Khoborer Kagoj and Juel Rana of The Daily Observer have been elected president and general secretary respectively of the Islamic University Journalists' Association (IUJA). The election took place on Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00pm at University's Press Corner.
During the election, IU Student Advisor Prof Dr Obayedul Islam served as the chief election commissioner, while former IUJA president M Suza Uddin and Imran Shuvro acted as assistant election commissioners.
Following the election, Islamic University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah announced the results as the chief guest. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Yeaqub Ali and Treasurer Prof Dr Jahangir Alam were present as special guests. Meanwhile, many teachers, student organisation leaders, cultural organisation representatives were present there.
The newly formed committee includes, Vice-President Morshed Mamun of Daily Kalbela, Joint Secretary Edul Hasan Farhan of Daily Dinkal, Treasurer Jamal Uddin of Shikkhabarta, Office Secretary Tanim Tanvir of Rising BD, Publicity Secretary Abu Ubaida of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and Executive Member Anisur Rahman of Daily Ittefaq.
Newly elected General Secretary Juel Rana expressed gratitude to IUJA members and said he is looking forward to working for ethical journalism on campus.
President Niamatullah Munim said he is thankful for the trust placed in him and asked for support for the upcoming time.
