BGB seizes over Tk 1.68bn worth of smuggled goods in Nov

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted extensive operations across the country's border areas and other locations throughout November 2025, resulting in the seizure of smuggled goods worth Tk 1,683,857,000.

The seized items include: 2 kg 266.22 gm of gold, 121 gm of silver, 17,234 saris, 21,338 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed sheets/blankets, 27,450 ready-made garments, 9,740 meters of fabric, 340,380 cosmetic items, 6,564 imitation jewelry pieces, 1,009,421 fireworks, 6,216 cubic feet of timber, 1,284 kg of tea leaves, 11,479 kg of betel nut, 66,546 kg of coal, 12,890 cubic feet of stone, 597 kg of fishing net materials, 15,178 plastic/electrical items, 445 mobile phones, 15,145 mobile displays, 73,564 sunglasses, 37,690.500 kg of cumin, 4,970 kg of sugar, 163,490 kg of onions, 1,731 kg of garlic, 4,680 packets of seeds, 6,320 kg of fertilizer, 2,684 packets of pesticides, 485 liters of diesel, 168,021 pieces of chocolate, 819 cattle/buffalo, 16 trucks/covered vans, 17 pickups/mahindras, 4 tractors, 2 private cars/microbuses, 14 trolleys, 179 boats, 38 CNG/auto-rickshaws, 54 motorcycles, and 31 bicycles/vans, according to a press release received yesterday.

Weapons recovered during the operations include 4 local/indigenous pistols, 1 hand grenade, 2 magazines, 19 rounds of ammunition, 2.3 kg of gunpowder, 3 mines, 6 cocktails, and 9 other weapons.

Additionally, BGB seized a large quantity of narcotics during the same period. These include 20,58,789 yaba tablets, 193 gm of heroin, 3,714 bottles of phensedyl, 7,176 bottles of foreign liquor, 203.9 liters of locally-made alcohol, 608 cans of beer, 1,526.050 kg of cannabis, 117,851 packets of bidi and cigarettes, 50,585 narcotic tablets/injections, 3,463 bottles of Eskuff syrup, 8,156 Enegra/Senegra tablets, 56,120 tablets used for liquor production, and 767,923 pieces of various medicines and tablets.

During anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics operations, BGB detained 159 smugglers, 137 Bangladeshi nationals, and 02 Indian nationals for illegally crossing the border. Legal action has been taken against them. Furthermore, 403 Myanmar nationals attempting to illegally enter Bangladesh were pushed back to their home country.
