Saturia Press Club gets new body
The new executive committee (2025-27) of Saturia Pres Club has been formed on Saturday.
Among the 8 organizational positions, 3 were elected and the remaining 5 were elected unopposed. All 20 members of the club exercised their voting rights.
Md. Jahangir Alam (Daily Samakal) and Hasan Faizi (Daily Desh Pantar and SA TV) have been elected as president and general secretary (GS) respectively.
The voting was held at Saturia Upazila Parishad auditorium from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm without interruption on Saturday (December 13). Later, at around 5:30 pm, Chief Election Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam Sujan officially announced the results.
Md. Jahangir Alam won the post of president by getting 15 votes and his rival candidate Md. Shahidul Islam Khokon (Alokit Bangladesh) got 5 votes.
For the post of Vice-President, Md. Shahidul Islam Shahid (Saturia correspondent of Daily Jai Jai Din) won by getting 14 votes, while his rival candidate Md. Moinul Islam (Saturia correspondent of Daily Amaderer Shomoy) won by getting 6 votes.
For the post of Treasurer, Md. Mahmudul Hasan Moni (Saturia correspondent of Dainik Bangla) won by getting 13 votes, while his rival candidate Abdus Salam Shafiq (Saturia correspondent of Bangladesh Protidin) won by getting 7 votes.
