Rifat Masud wins BSPA's sports journalist of the year award

Rifat Masud of T Sports has won the Tawfiq Aziz Khan Trophy for the Max-BSPA Sports Journalist of the Year 2024 during Max-BSPA award night at a city hotel on Saturday.

Apart from Tawfiq Aziz Khan Trophy, Rifat also received a cheque of Tk 1 lakh from MAX Group chairman and Bangladesh Swimming Federation senior vice-president Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir in the ceremony. He got the reward by getting the highest marks from the independent judges panel. He also won the trophies of the best television interview and the best television feature/documentary category awards.

The BSPA organise an award ceremony in recognition of the best sports journalists at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) auditorium in every year.

Arafat Zubaer, senior reporter of Dhaka Post.com and ATN News reporter Bodiujjaman Milon was the first and second runner-up respectively in this category.

Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) general secretary Samon Hossain, ASM Rokibul Hasan, Dulal Mahmud and Hasan Ullah Khan Rana, among others, were also present on the occasion.

The runners-up in the television interview category were Somoy TV reporter Tazin Khandoker Panna and Channel 24 reporter AKM Faizul Islam, while T Sports reporter Navil Elahi Khan and SK Shaon of Channel 24 emerged runners-up in the television feature/documentary category.

Somoy Tv reporter SM Iqbal Kausar won the exclusive report of the year award, while Foysal Habib of Ekattor TV and the daily Prothom Alo reporter Tareq Mahmud were the runners-up in this category.Arafat also won the best series report of the year for the print/online category, while Milon and Dhaka Tribune reporter Shishir Hoque were the runners-up in this category.

Samakal editor Sanjoy Shah Piyal won the interview of the year in the print/online category, while Cricinfo's Bangladesh correspondent Mohamamad Isam and Arafat finished runners-up in this category.The Daily Star sub-editor Ashfaq-Ul-Alam won the best feature/documentary award for the print/online category, while Milon and Prothom Alo reporter Zahir Uddin Mishu were the runners-up in this category.

Desh Rupantor photographer Mosharraf Hossain Bhuban won the best sports photographer of the year award, while Daily Star duo sub-editor Sajjad Hossain Mukul and photographer Firoz Ahmed were runners-up in this category.Besides, Md Anwar Ullah and Parveen Nasima Nahar Putul were honoured with special awards on the occasion of World Sports Journalists Day.
